L’Oréal: 1999 First Half Sales: Frf 35.2 Billion ; Eur 5.37 Billion Group

L'OREAL'S consolidated sales for the first half 1999 totalled FRF 35.2 billion (EUR 5.37 billion).

Synthélabo being consolidated by equity method since 1st January 1999, sales growth, compared with 1998 first half sales pro forma, i.e. without Synthélabo, was 11 % on published figures and 13.8 % excluding exchange rate impacts.

Currency effects had a negative impact of 2.8 % compared to a positive impact of 0.6 % at the 30 June 1998 pro forma.

On a structural level, the consolidation of the new cosmetics and dermatology subsidiaries had a positive impact of 0.8 %.

On a comparable basis, i.e. with same structure and exchange rates, the increase of L'OREAL consolidated sales compared with the first half 1998, excluding Synthelabo, rose by 13 %.
